Press Release: ACF: Khost win First Olympia Lube Oil Tournament

The Afghanistan Cricket Federation(ACF) organised the First Olympia Lube Oil Cricket Tournament played from 5 to 20 May, 2003 in Kabul.

The ACF is pleased to report this was the first time that coloured clothing and white balls were used in Afghanistan and the tournament was sponsored by Olympia Lube Oil Company.

14 teams from around Afghanistan played in the tournament which was divided in two groups. All the matches were one-day and 40 overs per side.

Group A teams were: Kabul, Logar, Taj Malik Cricket Academy (TMCA), International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), Olympia Cricket Team, Afghan Refugee Cricket Team from Pakistan and Parwan.

Group B teams were: Khost, Konar, Jalalabad, Pir Baba Cricket Academy (PBCA), Kandahar, Mazar-e-Sharif.

The opening match was between ISAF and TMCA.
Result: TMCA won by 10 runs.:
Scores: TMCA 151-5 and ISAF 140.
Man of the Match: Asqar Khan (65 not out, 5 wickets).

The final was played between Khost and PBCA.
Result: Khost won by 25 runs.
Scores: Khost 185-9 and PBCA 160.
Man of the Match: Nowroz Khan (75 not out, 4 wickets).
