Kieswetter eager to shine

Picking a top runscorer is even more difficult than it is in Test cricket, especially as the turnover of players in the one-day game is far greater and we don't always have as much information to go on as we do in the Test arena, where sides are generally more settled.
While Ian Bell was recalled to a 13-man England squad, others, like Craig Kieswetter and Michael Yardy, have the oppportunity to show that their Twenty20 form was no fluke and that they can cut it in this form of the game.
For Australia, it is a chance to notch another series win over England and perhaps open up one or two psychological scars that could come in handy in the winter.
We always talk about the power of 1-2-3 in the one-day game when it comes to picking top runscorers and the principle still stands, especially now Kieswetter has been put in there at the top of the order.
The top three generally have more time in the middle so the probabilities are in their favour and the best players, more often than not, are to be found in positions 1,2,3. So it's no surprise that Bet365 have put England's top three at the top of the betting.
As ever, Kevin Pietersen is favourite, this time at 9/4. Pietersen actually has not topped the batting stats in the past few home one-day series, but there is nothing he loves more than playing Australia so expect good things from him this time round.
Captain Andrew Strauss is next at 3/1 and with rumours that the skipper has been told he needs a good series to maintain his place in the one-day side, it will be interesting to see how he responds to the pressure. Strauss did top-score against the Aussies last summer, though, so he knows he can do it.
Kieswetter is next at 7/2 and could be worth a little dabble at the price. The aggressive, attacking nature of his batting is great to watch and finally, England may just have found someone who can score fast at the top of the order. He is fearless and against an Australia attack missing Brett Lee and Mitchell Johnson, he shouldn't be frightened by pace.
Behind those three, Paul Collingwood and Eoin Morgan are each 5/1 but may not get enough time in the middle to really shine, while you can get 8/1 on Bell and then it's 33/1 on Luke Wright, who may not even play.
Aussie hopes
Opener Craig White shares favouritism in the Australia batting markets with captain Ricky Ponting at 9/4 and White has been pretty consistent over the past year. A bit like Pietersen, Ponting has not topped the stats lately in one-dayers but against England he will want to show that he is still a serious force.
Shaun Marsh, the other opener, is 7/2 and then we have Michael Clarke at 5/1, Tim Paine 6/1 and Michael Hussey and Cameron White both 7/1. Interestingly, White top-scored in the series 12 months ago, but he batted No 3 then, so wait to see what side Australia put out first time round before gambling on a repeat.
Top bowlers
Bet365 have clearly been having a few problems working out who will do the damage for England with the ball, because they go 5/2 on Graeme Swann, James Anderson and Stuart Broad coming out on top.
Broad is becoming more and more dangerous and has actually generally been pretty concistent in one-day cricket. At 5/2 he is not a great price, though, and I can see Swann picking up two or three wickets a game, which ought to be enough to finish on top of the pile.
Tim Bresnan, having shaken off injury, is next at 9/2, with Ryan Sidebottom 5/1 and Yardy 10/1.
As for Australia, Doug Bollinger is an unlikely favourite at 2/1, with Ryan Harris, a relative newcomer in the side, but 30 years of age, next at 5/2. Another new boy, Clint Mckay, is next at 4/1, with Nathan Hauritz 9/2 and Shane Watson 6/1.
Much like Swann, I can see Hauritz doing well and at 9/2 he is reasonable value, not least because he was joint third last time round, with Lee and Johnson - both unavailable this time - above him.
