Nick Knight cruised past 4000 runs in his National League career, to set Warwickshire on their way to an emphatic 18-run victory in a rain-affected match against Worcestershire at Edgbaston. Knight scored 122 from 131 balls, his second and highest one-day century of the season, as Warwickshire piled up 250 for 4 in their 50 overs. It was a total that always looked beyond Worcestershire, and their prospects were not helped by a readjustment of their target when rain swept across the ground at 9.55pm. Even so, the asking rate had already reached more than eight an over. Knight's main ally in his innings was Jonathan Trott, with whom he added 117 for the fourth wicket. Knight was eventually run out with five balls remaining, but as so often this season, his contribution proved decisive.
