Garnett Kruger won't be returning to Leicestershire next season after deciding to cut down on his workload. He will now concentrate on playing for the Lions in South Africa.
Kruger had a year left on his contract, but Leicestershire have agreed to release him after he suffered a season hit by injuries.
"Garnett came to us about three weeks ago and said he was concerned about his workload," said chief executive David Smith. "As a strike bowler playing in the winter and the summer he felt that he had to make a choice about playing at home or in England.
"Garnett has had a number of niggles this summer and hasn't been able to bowl the way he wanted to. But he was picking up those niggles because there was no rest period for his body."
Kruger finished the season with two five-wicket hauls to take his tally to 32 wickets in 10 Championship matches.
