Kuschert to debut for in-form Breakers
Lisa Kuschert, a middle-order batter and medium-pace bowler, will make her debut for the undefeated New South Wales this weekend
Lisa Kuschert, a middle-order batter and medium-pace bowler, will make her debut for the undefeated New South Wales this weekend as they aim to extend their lead at the top of the table. They have a double-header on Saturday and Sunday against fourth-placed Queensland in Sydney.
Kuschert is the only change for the Breakers, replacing Nicole Goodwin. She has represented state Under-19 and second eleven, and scored a half-century in the seconds' victory at the Final of the Cricket Australia Cup in Canberra a fortnight ago. She hails from Lowesdale in the Riverina region of NSW, the same region as Breakers team mates Alex and Kate Blackwell.
Alex Blackwell is keen to take her rich vein of batting form into the SCG. "Playing at the ground always raises your game," she told Cricinfo. "We love playing there."
Breakers head coach Richard Bates said the team weren't taking their winning streak lightly. "Even though we've got the wins under our belt the girls aren't resting on their laurels, "he told Cricinfo. "They are always keen to improve and we have been working hard again in the lead-up to this weekend."
An unchanged South Australia host Western Australia in their first home match this season and what will be Lauren Ebsary's first match against the Scorpions since moving to Western Fury in the off-season. Ebsary relocated to Western Australia in the off-season following seven years with South Australia.
Western Fury are currently sitting last on the WNCL ladder, while the Scorpions are sharing third spot with Queensland - both teams will be keen to take home the winning points before Christmas.
Kris Britt and Emma Sampson are both set to play their 50th Women's National Cricket League match on Saturday. Both players debuted together and have since played every match together.
