Member of the Indian Selection Committee for two years in 1953-54 and 1954-55.

Chairman of the Indian Selection Committee for 5 years from 1955-56 to 1959-60.

Manager of the Indian Cricket team to Pakistan in 1954-55. Expert commentator on All India Radio and Television for several years.

Awards:

Honorary Life Membership of the M C C in 1960.

Padma Bhushan of the Government of India in 1991.

C K Nayudu Award for outstanding contribution to Indian Cricket, both on and off the field, instituted by the Board of Control for Cricket in India in 1994.

Family Connection with Cricket:

Two sons - Mohinder and Surinder played Test cricket for India.Third Son, Rajinder, played Ranji Trophy for Punjab, Delhi, Vidarbha and Haryana from 1976-77 to 1987-88.
