Former West Indies captain, Brian Lara, and Barbadian fast bowler, Corey Collymore, who have been selected to tour the United Kingdom this summer, have been passed fit to return to competitive cricket.
West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Executive Secretary, Andrew Sealy, said that the Board had received satisfactory written reports on Lara following WICB medical and physical evaluations earlier this week and the star batsman's consultations with a Sports Psychologist in the United States of America.
The West Indies selectors chose Lara for the team to tour the United Kingdom after he indicated his desire to end his self-imposed three-month break from cricket and return to the West Indies team.
Sealy said that Collymore has also been declared fir to return to full competitive cricket following WICB medical and physical evaluations which were conducted before and the "A" team game against Pakistan in which he played.
Collymore was sidelined by a serious back injury in the latter stages of last year and was selected for the tour of the United Kingdom, pending results of fitness Tests.
The tests have now been completed, so Lara and Collymore are cleared to be properly included.
