Brian Lara has insisted he will carry on as West Indies captain in the wake of his side's latest crushing defeat against England at Edgbaston.
Lara has had to endure calls for him to step down by many former West Indian players, including Sir Viv Richards, who only this morning questioned Lara's ability to motivate his players.
However, when quizzed on the issue in the post-match ceremony, Lara said he would carry on until told otherwise. "It is impossible to even think about that [resigning] right now," he said. "I have been given a job to do until the fourth Test at The Oval and that is what I am going to do. My employers decide when I step down, or if I continue or not."
Lara, who is in his second stint as captain, added: "I am always committed to West Indies cricket. I have been asked back to do this job and have been doing the best I can."
