The 2008 edition of Wisden Cricketers' Almanack will be published on Thursday April 10, the opening day of the English season. It will be the first Wisden to be edited by Sunday Telegraph cricket correspondent Scyld Berry, who takes over from long-time editor Matthew Engel. Berry will also edit Wisden in 2009.

The 145th consecutive edition will feature Berry's first Notes by the Editor, offering his distinctive insights into the state of the modern game. It will, of course, name Wisden's Five Cricketers of the Year, continuing a tradition dating back to 1889, as well as garlanding the Leading Cricketer in the World for 2007.

For the first time, the 2008 edition of Wisden will include an award for the leading schools' cricketer. The Young Wisden Schools Cricketer of the Year award will be the focal point of Wisden's traditional schools section.

Among other articles: Mike Brearley, Ian Chappell, John Woodcock, Simon Barnes and Tony Cozier profile the five greatest cricketers never chosen to be a Wisden Cricketer of the Year, Andrew Strauss looks at "What Duncan did for us", four county cricketers tell the stories of their 2007 season, Carl Bridge and Doug Insole look behind the legend of Don Bradman on the centenary of his birth, Nick Newman celebrates the enduring power of cricket cartoons, and Mike Atherton, Ian Healy and Robert Craddock assess the great careers of Brian Lara, Adam Gilchrist and Glenn McGrath.

For the first time the latest edition will be available as a fully-searchable e-book edition online - as will the 2006 and 2007 editions. The e-book will be available for purchase from April 10 via www.wisden.com.
