Maylard-Mason, 31, is currently the general manager of Uttoxeter Racecourse and will take control of all the commercial activities and non-cricketing operations at Grace Road later this summer.

Maylard-Mason's appointment has been made by Leicestershire's doard of directors in conjunction with their commercial partners Investors in Cricket. He will replace Sophie Walker, who has been acting as general manager on behalf of Investors in Cricket since June last year. She will focus on projects and investments with IIC once the changeover has taken place but will still retain an association with Grace Road.

The chairman Neil Davidson said: "The restructuring of the Club is now taking shape nicely with this key appointment. The building blocks are in place to develop a successful club with Tim Boon in charge of the cricket operation and Paul Maylard-Mason heading up the non-cricketing operation as our Chief Executive.

Maylard-Mason added: "It has long been my ambition to work in the game and I am delighted to be offered this opportunity. Some exciting changes have been taking place at Grace Road and I am relishing the challenge of giving this process added impetus as we aim to take the Club forward and achieve the long term ambitions."

Leicestershire hope to confirm Maylard-Mason's starting date at Grace Road shortly, with him committed to guiding Uttoxeter through a busy programme in the early part of the summer.
