Zaheer Khan is all set to spend a month at the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai, fine-tuning his skills ahead of the Indian international season, which kicks off with a home series against New Zealand. His stint coincides with a six-day seminar for coaches and trainers, that takes place between June 28 and July 2.
TA Sekhar, head coach of the Pace Foundation, speaking to Wisden CricInfo said, "the seminar will be the event for coaches and trainers in the country. Indian cricket has not seen such a gathering before and I'm sure the coaches and trainers in the country will gain immensely in their interaction with people from around the world."
Dennis Lillee, who has been associated with the MRF Pace foundation from its conception, will speak on fast bowling, while fellow Australians Greg Chappell (on batting), Trevor Chappell (fielding), Sandy Gordon (sports psychology) and Mark Portas (bio-mechanics) will address the gathering.
John Wright, coach of the Indian team, is also scheduled to attend the conference, though he is not marked down for a speech. Also attending the conference will be coaches and trainers from across the country, sent by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), to upgrade their skills and interact with world-class professionals in their field.
Excited at the prospect of the six-day seminar, Sekhar said, "this will be a great opportunity for people involved in Indian cricket to learn more about the latest techniques in coaching and training."
