2006-07 HKCA Saturday League
Cool conditions greeted players for round 22 of the 2006-07 HKCA Saturday League, played on 10th March 2007.
LSW Warriors undefeated run through the 2006-07 HKCA Saturday League continued as they produced a 38-run victory over Kai Tak at the Po Kong Village Road Number One ground. LSW Warriors batted first and posted a total of 209, with Jawaid Iqbal top scoring with 67 runs, while Tabarak Dar scored 59 and Ilyas Gul made 34. For Kai Tak Darren Farr grabbed three wickets while Tiku Patidar claimed four. In reply, Kai Tak was dismissed for 171, with Dave Belcastro scoring 32. Chief destroyer was Zain Abbas who claimed five wickets.
LSW Warriors victory, their 15th of the season, means that they have an unbeatable points total and, failing a dramatic loss of form or the loss of points, they should claim their second Saturday League title in three years.
Across on the PKVR Number Two ground, St George's thrashed Saracens by 144 runs. Iftikhar Ahmed led the batting with an unbeaten 119 as St George's piled on a total of 256-4 from their 35 overs. Vicky Niaz also scored 44 while Mohd Rahman finished on 39 not not. Saracens reply faltered badly and they were dismissed for just 112, with Mohd Ali claiming three wickets.
Gap Ramblers scored an equally emphatic victory as they blitzed SCC Vampires by 125 runs at Hong Kong Cricket Club. Barry Pearce top scored with 82 while Trevor Tully hit 72 not out as Gap Ramblers racked up an impressive 279-4 from their 35 overs. Jaremy Collard also hit 41 while Sanjay Patnaik claimed three wickets for the Vampires. Vipul Aggarwal hit an unbeaten 44 but his efforts were in vein as Vampires could only muster a total of 154, with Harold Turner claiming four wickets for Gap Ramblers.
The closest match of the day was reserved for a bottom of the table clash between CCC and Mainlanders at Mission Road. Mainlanders batted first and scored 197-8 from their 35 overs, with Najeeb Amar hitting an unbeaten 118 while Aqeel Butt scored 46. John Bacon claimed 5-24 in an eight over spell for CCC. In reply, CCC came close to breaking their duck for the season, with Ahmed Mukhtar hitting 78 and Richard Wallace scoring 43, but ultimately they fell six runs short of their target as Inderjeet Singh grabbed 5-35 and Ikram Hussain claimed 4-16.
The final match of the day saw Tartars and Lamma do battle at the Kowloon Cricket Club. Lamma batted first but were restricted to 191-7 from their 35 overs, with Sher Lama scoring 65 while Tauseef hit 38. Afzaal Haider added three more scalps to his season's tally of wickets. Tartars led a measured reply, with Shivang Baid hitting 75 runs while Anoop Nainani scored 35 and Shkawat Ali finished on 39 not out.

2006-07 HKCA Sunday League
Sunday League champions Optimists made merry against Millennium CC in a high scoring match played at Hong Kong Cricket Club on Sunday, 11th March 2007. The HKCC wicket has leaked a whole boatload of runs this season and plenty more were scored this Sunday as Optimists posted a massive 385-3 from their 48 overs. Ben hart scored 37 while Mark Eames hit an unbeaten 119 and Paul Watkins smashed 151 not out in the runs spree. The Millennium batting line-up also paid little respect to the art of bowling as they racked up 245 from 38.3 overs, with Vicky Niaz scoring 40 and Talaf hitting an unbeaten 70. Jeremy Glaros was the best of the bowlers, claiming 4-50.
There as another run-fiest at Po Kong Village Road where Templars beat Sri Lanka Club by 42 runs. Templars batted first and they posted 320-9 from their 50 overs with Hasan Ahmed (43), Shkawat Ali (44), Amjid Mahmood (50) and Pranav Shah (57) all making useful contributions. The Sri Lanka Club made a good effort in reply, finishing on 278-8 at the close with Neel Kumara scoring 55; Supun Kelapatha 39 and Sajid Khan 70 not out. Afzaal Haider and Waqar Darwood claimed three wickets each for Templars.
A very similar magin of victory was attained by LSW as they beat Infidels by 44 runs at Kowloon Cricket Club. LSW batted first and scored 240-8 from their 50 overs, with Azhar Illahi (45), Zain Abbas (30), Tabarak Dar (45) and Nadeem Ahmed (39) all making useful starts but none going on to a big score. Ravi Sujanani was the best of the home team bowlers, picking up four wickets. Infidels replay was led by Damian Kelleher who scored 88, but his was pretty much lone hand as Infidels were dismissed for 196 in 46.5 overs. Courtney Kruger was the only other batsman to offer any resistance, scoring 35, while Zain Abbas grabbed three wickets for LSW.
Meanwhile Wanderers got back to winning ways with a six-wicket victory over Vagabonds at Mission Road. Vagabonds opened the batting but they were dismissed for 195 from 40.5 overs with Usman scoring 48 and Sher Lama hitting 66. Robert Tucker claimed three wickets for the HKCC side. Darren Tucker than smashed an unbeaten 133 as Wanderers streaked to victory in 29 overs, with Ken Thiedeman also contributing 33.

2006-07 HKCA Skitz Sports Bar Women's Cricket League
KCC Maidens enjoyed another victory in the HKCA Women's Cricket League as they beat HKCC Cavaliers by 4 runs in a nail-biting match at Po Kong Village Road. Olivia Rae top scored with 34 not out as the Maidens scored 147-7 from their 35 overs while Jenny Kan claimed three wickets for the Cavaliers. KCC Maidens conceded a massive 74 extras but HKCC Cavliers weren't able to take advantage as they finished on 143-5 from their 35 overs.
