Manawatu away to a flyer at Central Zone tourney

Manawatu players Andrea Stockwell and Jenni Scott combined in a 141-run partnership to held their side to a first-up win at the Central Zone under-17 girls' cricket tournament being played at Wanganui.

Manawatu scored 232-4 in its innings when batting first against Hutt Valley. Stockwell scored 66 and Scott 62. It was a total too tough for Hutt Valley who were all out for 189.

In the game between Wellington and Taranaki, Taranaki was dismissed for 72. Despite that, they must have felt they were in with a chance when Wellington was 26/6. However, Esmita Rama saw Wellington through with 43 not out. Short scoreboard results for daY one.
