Marcus Trescothick was last night awarded the title of Fleming Premier Banking PCA Player of the Year at the Royal Albert Hall, during the Fleming Premier Banking PCA Awards Dinner.

The Fleming Premier Banking PCA Awards Dinner in association with the ECB was the largest cricket event ever to be staged outside a cricket ground. In excess of 1,500 guests enjoyed a spectacular event billed as a true celebration of cricket involving not just Fleming Premier Banking, PCA and ECB but also M.C.C., Channel 4, Sky Sports, and all participants of the domestic cricket fraternity. Guests included many past and present international and domestic cricketers and an array of celebrities.

The left-handed Somerset batsman who made his Test and One-day International debuts in 2000 joins a distinguished list who have won the PCA Player of the Year Award including Sir Richard Hadlee, Malcolm Marshall, Courtney Walsh, Graham Gooch, Brian Lara and Mike Proctor.

The 32nd winner of the award, Trescothick beat the other nominees, Martin Bicknell, Alec Stewart, Glenn McGrath and Andrew Caddick for this year's title.
