CRICKET: MARSHALL QUITS COUNTY GAME

Malcolm Marshall has announced his retirement from county cricket with a blast at rules which favour ordinary batsmen.
The West Indian paceman has been with Hampshire since 1978 taking 1 048 wickets in all competitions for the county.
He said the one bouncer per over rule and smaller seams on balls had helped ordinary batsmen thrive in county cricket only to be cruelly exposed in the Test arena.
Marshall plans to play in the Lancashire League next summer.
