Bangladesh Cricket Board Eleven suffered a six-wicket defeat to touring MCC in a limited over match at Jessore Stadium Sunday. It was the first win of Maryelbone Cricket Club in the tour as the previous two longer-version matches ended in draw.
A brilliant 103-run partnership between Matthew Wood and Ben Smith helped the visitors to earn the six-wicket victory against national star-studded BCB XI. Replying to home side's 180 runs, MCC reached the target making 184 for four wickets with five balls to spare.
The match was fixed 40 overs due to a delayed start for rain.
Opener Wood made an unbeaten 61 runs off 118 balls that featured six hits across the rope and later he was adjudged man of the match. Wood contributed 30 runs in the opening stand with Will House, who added 18 runs off 21 balls with four boundaries. First-drop Ben Smith hammered 58 runs off 69 deliveries with four boundaries and three sixes.
Left-arm spinner Enamul Haq Moni captured two wickets conceding 31 runs in 8 overs while Khaled Mahmud Sujon and Hasibul Hossain Shanta took one wicket each for 33 and 41 runs respectively.
