Chris Martin and Brendon McCullum have backed New Zealand Cricket (NZC) on its tough stance against the Indian Cricket League. McCullum, however, said he would support any decision his team-mates made on whether to join the group.
"I'm just backing up New Zealand Cricket and I think their stance on it [ICL] has been spot-on," Martin told the Press. "I probably don't know enough details about it [ICL] to really be commenting, but it seems like the logical stance from NZ Cricket."
Stephen Fleming and Shane Bond have been linked to the league, but NZC made it clear that it would not release any players from their contracts. Asked what would happen if one of his team-mates went over, McCullum said he understood the ramifications it would have for NZC but added: "At the same time any decision any of my team-mates make I'd support them either way".
McCullum and Martin confirmed neither of them had been approached by the ICL, nor had they thought too much about it. McCullum said "there's been a bit talked about", but generally as a topic of conversation it had been "almost a no-go zone".
