Lalit Modi, the IPL commissioner, has been asked to explain his departure from India by the Rajasthan High Court which issued him an anticipatory bail after an NGO accused him of fraud.
Nagrik Morcha had alleged that a promised Rs6 crore (US$1.2million) donation from eight franchises didn't reach the Chief Minister's Relief Fund for the Jaipur blasts last year. The bail had been issued on the condition that Modi would not leave the country without seeking the court's approval.
Modi has been at the centre of controversy ever since the Rajasthan government changed hands in a recent election. Modi had close ties with the previous administration but is now facing charges of forgery and fraud. He also failed to be re-elected as the Rajasthan Cricket Association president last month.
