Mohammad Amir, the 23-year-old Pakistan bowler, has suffered a hairline fracture in his toe while playing in a T20 tournament in Pakistan. Amir, who was given a five-year ban by the ICC for his involvement in spot-fixing on the tour of England in 2010, will complete the duration of his ban in September.
Saeed Mohammad, manager of the Sui Southern Gas team, said Amir had been advised three weeks rest. "He (Amir) was hit on the toe while collecting a throw from another fielder and after we took him to hospital it was revealed he had suffered a hairline fracture in his toe," Saeed told PTI. "It was an unfortunate incident as Amir has been working very hard on his fitness preparing for the September deadline."
Amir recently joined the Sui Gas team and also represented them in a T20 event in Faisalabad. Amir has played 14 Tests, 15 ODIs and 18 T20s for Pakistan and picked up a combined 99 wickets before his ban.
