Well all District Cricket Competitions right across the country are now in full swing

Well all District Cricket Competitions right across the country are now in full swing. It has been extremely enjoyable to visit the grounds on Saturdays and watch some local district cricket at it's best. The Suva Cricket Competition especially is shaping up to be a hard fought battle throughout the entire season with some evenly strong teams.

I am very much looking towards the Dewar Shield which is to be played between Nadi and Tubou at Tobou on January the 8th, 9th and 10th 2004. The Dewar Shield is a 3-day challenge match with Tobou being the holders of the Shield for the previous 9years. Something the Nadi team is very keen to change. Whoever ends up holding the Shield after this match will then have a challenge from the Suva team later this year. Watching this fiercely traditional match will no doubt be one of the highlights of my time over in Fiji.

Congratulations must go to the District Development Officers across Fiji as the preparations for the ICC EAP Regional U15's Tournament continue to move along with great momentum. Early next year Fiji will witness the first National U15's Competition in Suva. I'm expecting that the natural cricketing ability these junior players will demonstrate will result in a very competitive competition. We are very much looking forward to the opportunity to compete with other National Junior Representative Teams at `Melbourne 05'.
