On Wednesday it seemed that Greg Chappell was as good as appointed, and although both Chappell and the board were cagey, the deal looked done and dusted.
But since then the issue has become cloudier. In today's Guardian Peter Moores, director of cricket at Sussex, was being linked with job. And The Nation on Thursday said that there was a four-man shortlist with Bennett King, who was almost appointed to the role in 2003, was back in the frame.
Moores was interviewed in London during the Champions Trophy - as was Chappell - and was reported to be in the frame. He was credited with being instrumental in Sussex's Championship success in 2003 and has also coached England A.
King only declined a job that was as good as his in April last year when the West Indies board announced his appointment before the details had been agreed. King walked away, and Logie was hurriedly installed in his place.
