Moses smashes century in huge win for Young Ashdod; Myers ton leads the way for Tel Aviv

Dovi Myers scored 109 not out as Tel Aviv won their second straight game, defeating Jerusalem Sri Lanka by 110 runs at Hadar Yosef on Friday, whilst Shmuel Moses went even better on Saturday, blasting 144 not out as Young Ashdod went a long way to securing themselves a top four finish with a comprehensive 148 run over league leaders Be'er Sheva.

Be'er Sheva have been the kings of draws this season, but not even they were able to prevent Young Ashdod storming to victory. Moses, one of the few players in the country with the ability to take an attack apart, was at his brilliant best in scoring an undefeated 144, leading his team to a massive 303/4 declared in just 35 overs after being asked to bat, with Jayasinge contributing 56, after being. The visitors were as dominant with the ball as they were with the bat, dismissing Be'er Sheva for 155 in just 28 overs, with three wickets each for Jayasinge and Danny Malyankar.

Ashdod A were too strong for Dimona C in Ashdod on Saturday, with Anis Zaveri (45*) steering his team home to a comfortable 7 wicket win after Hillel Awaskar 3/20 and Menashe Wadhawker 3/26 were the main destroyers as Dimona were all out for 152.

The third Division 1 fixture of the weekend ended in a draw, with Ramla scoring 113/6 in reply to Neve Yonatan's 179.

In Division 2, Tel Aviv continued their climb up the table, defeating Jerusalem SL by 110 runs at Hadar Yosef. Dovi Myers was the star for the home side, scoring his first league century in a total of 251/4 declared. The Lankans could manage just 141 in reply.

In a further Division 2 game played today, league leaders Ra'anana 2 were far too strong for a young Negev Academy team, winning by 7 wickets having been set a target of 115. Gershon Seymour enjoyed his day out for Ra'anana, taking five for 11. Despite being well beaten, a couple of the youngsters, many of whom should be part of the Israel U15 team going to Italy later this summer, impressed for the Academy team.
