Muralitheran for more testing

Yet another biomechanics expert group has come forward to prove that Muttiah Muralitheran`s medical and physical deformity in the bowling arm does not constitute chucking.

Well-known Canadian Consultant in biomechanics, Derek Kozar who has an MSC in biomechanics from WCA had discussions with head, Institute of Sports Medicine, Consultant Neurologist Dr. Githanjan Mendis and sports physician Dr. Lalith Ratnayake when they attended the Asian Sports Medicine Congress in Manila, Philippines last week.

HIGHEST

Minister of Youth Affairs, Sport and Rural Development, S. B. Dissanayake has directed the Institute of Sports Medicine that highest technology available in the world should be used to exonerate Muralitheran.

Mr. Kozar has equipment which can video Muralitheran`s bowling action at high speed with cameras operating 200 frames per second and analyse by computer the wrist and elbow integrated action with digital technology.

LATEST

This is the latest equipment available in the world in Biomechanics, and Human performance.

Because Muralitheran has a great spinning action, neuro muscular co- ordination makes the deformed bowling arm to bend further which could be shown conclusively by this latest equipment. Frame by frame analysis through computer can conclude there is no chucking.

Mr. Kozar is willing to bring equipment to Sri Lanka and perform these tests before the Wills World Cup tournament where Muralitheran is expected to play.
