Nadeem Ahmed and Jamie Atkinson excel in overseas competitions
As part of his build up to the ACC Under-19 Elite Cup, Hong Kong's Under-19 left-arm spinner Nadeem Ahmed has been plying his trade for Kalutara CC in the Under-23 Division 1 tournament in Sri Lanka.
As we build towards the ACC Under-19 Elite Cup, it is pleasing to report that two of Hong Kong's finest young cricketers are enjoying success in overseas competitions.
Hong Kong's Under-19 left-arm spinner Nadeem Ahmed has been plying his trade for Kalutara Town Club in the Under-23 Division 1 tournament in Sri Lanka. In his first match, he claimed figures of 4-64 and scored 33 runs and then claimed 3-49 in the second match.

Meanwhile Jamie Atkinson has been enjoying his second season playing for Durham County Cricket Club at the Under-17 County Championships in England. Although poor weather in England has limited his opportunities to date, he did mange to score 34 against the Northamptonshire Cricket Board and followed this up with 43 against the Cheshire Cricket Board. In the Cheshire match, Jamie also took three catches and one stumping. You can follow Jamie's progress via the ECB website.
Other players gaining practise overseas include Irfan Ahmed and Shakeel Haq, who are both playing in Pakistan.
The ACC Under-19 Elite Cup will take place in Malaysia during 18-29 August 2007. In preparation for the tournament, the Hong Kong Under-19 team will embark on a tour to Sri Lanka where they will undertake a training camp and play practise matches against local opposition.
