Nehra reprimanded for breaching ICC Code of Conduct

ICC Match Referee Mike Procter found Nehra guilty for breaching Clause 1.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct - Excessive appealing in the course of play in the above match, after a hearing at the Rangiri Stadium in Dambulla earlier today.

The reports were made by the match officials Simon Taufel, Asoka De Silva and TH Wijewardena. Also in attendance at the hearing was Captain of India, Rahul Dravid and the India Team Manager, Mr Sanjay Jagdale.

Nehra pleaded guilty to the charge of celebrating the dismissal before the umpire had made his decision and of not turning around and appealing to the umpire - also known as excessive appealing under Clause 1.5. Nehra received a severe reprimand for the incident which took place at the end of the 45th over in the Indian bowling innings.

A Level 1 breach of the Code carries a penalty of a severe reprimand to a fine of 50 per cent of the player's match fee.
