Earlier South Africa, on its first-ever tour to the Netherlands, resumed at 159-5 and was bowled out for 232. Opener Daleen Terblanche, who started the day at 60, scored a career-best 83 that came off 203 balls after 258 minutes of batting. Her innings included four fours.

Fast bowler Jolet Hartenhof was the pick of the Netherlands bowlers with 4-62 while 41-year-old spinner Caroline de Fouw took 3-27.

With rain resulting in the loss of 31.4 overs on the first day and completely washing out the second day's play, the Dutch batsmen preferred batting practice for the upcoming ODI series by reaching 73-4 from 89 overs.

Scores in brief:

South Africa (1st innings) 232 (Daleen Terblanche 83, Claire Terblanche 30, Ashlyn Kilowan 28 not out, Jolet Hartenhof 4-62, Caroline de Fouw 3-27)

Netherlands (1st innings) 73-4 (Violet Wattenberg 32 not out, Maartje Koster 29, Claire Terblanche 2/11)
