There is little to choose between them on paper, there's no doubt of that, but New Zealand have some handy momentum having squeezed into the last four when India beat South Africa on Thursday.

Daniel Vettori has captained the side well and New Zealand, as ever, are proving to be a better outfit than they would appear to be individually. Their fielding is good and their bit players have that knack of chipping in when needed.

That said, Brendon McCullum is having a great tournament, having smashed 12 sixes to date, and the likes of Scott Styris are always dangerous to bowl to.

By contrast, Pakistan, completely unfancied at the start of the tournament, won Australia's group thanks to some exciting performances, with captain Shoaib Malik coming to the rescue when the top order failed them.

Shahid Afridi has been more successful with the ball than anyone would have been expected and if he hits form with the bat, then New Zealand could be in big trouble.

Big hitters
McCullum is the 10/3 favourite to be New Zealand's top runscorer, while Lou Vincent is next at 7/2, ahead of Peter Fulton at 4/1 and Ross Taylor at 9/2.

Further down the order, Styris is a 6/1 chance - pretty generous if you ask me - while Jacob Oram - who looks to be struggling after a dislocated finger a couple of matches ago, and Craig McMillan are each 7/1.

Bet365 clearly don't have much of a clue about Pakistan's batting prowess as they make Afridi, Mohammad Hafeez, Imran Nazir and Younis Khan all joint favourites at 9/2 to be their side's top runscorer.

Salman Butt is 5/1, Malik is 11/2 and Misbah-ul-Haq, one of the revelations of the competition, is a 7/1 chance.
