New Zealand cautious about tri-series

New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has sought further information before agreeing to replace West Indies in a one-day tri-series in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur next month. With West Indies' participation in the tournament up in the air, the Indian board had requested New Zealand and Sri Lanka to be on standby.
Judging by NZC chief executive Martin Snedden's response to the BCCI, New Zealand are more than cautious about the request. Terming it "a reasonably vague approach", Snedden told The New Zealand Herald: "We have only just received that request. I have not even had time to work through it."
Snedden added that several of New Zealand's cricketers were playing county cricket in England, but that they should be available to replace West Indies. Following the proposed tri-series is the Champions Trophy in India. New Zealand's opening match is against South Africa at Mumbai on October 16 but they have no international commitments between now and the start of the trophy.
