Nimbus gets overseas rights
Nimbus Sports International have sealed a deal with the Indian board to distribute all media rights outside India for the telecast of the forthcoming one-day series
Nimbus Sports International, a Singapore-based television production company, have sealed a deal with the Indian board to distribute all media rights outside India for the telecast of the forthcoming one-day series with Sri Lanka and South Africa. Nimbus will also distribute internet and mobile rights across the world for the two series. According to UNI, the deal was clinched for Rs 7.5crores (US$1.7 million).
Digvijay Singh, the chief executive officer of Nimbus Sport, said in a media release: "We are delighted to be working with the BCCI - the unique circumstances at this time are a challenge that we relish, and we have every intention of demonstrating once again that our global distribution abilities and speed of execution are major organisational strengths that sporting federations can rely upon to deliver results, every time."
Nimbus had recently produced and distributed the telecast rights for the Challenger Trophy at Mohali, and have clinched a five-year deal for the production of domestic football in India. They also have media and sponsorship rights for the ICC Champions Trophy in India in 2006 and the World Cup in the West Indies in 2007.
Earlier, the Indian board had awarded Prasar Bharati the rights to telecast the matches in India, with TWI being the production house.
