The President of the Northerns Cricket Union, Brandon Foot, advised the Board of the Union at a Meeting on the 7th of April 2003 that he had decided not to make himself available for re-election as President of the Union at its Annual General Meeting to be held on the 28th of July 2003.
Foot said that, after serving on the Executive Committee of the Northerns Cricket Union for the past ten years, four of these as Vice-President and the last three as President, he felt it was appropriate to advise the Board of his decision timeously to enable Board members to attend to succession-planning during the forthcoming four months.
The 41-year-old Pretoria Attorney indicated that he had taken the decision to enable him to spend more time with his family and on his legal practice.
"It is also paramount to ensure that fresh ideas and a fresh approach are adopted from time to time by the Northerns Cricket Union, which has always been a dynamic organisation. A change in leadership post-World Cup will, I believe, stand the Union in good stead", Foot said.
"It has been an honour to serve this wonderful Cricket Union for such an extended period and I wish to thank everyone within the Union for their unconditional and loyal support throughout", said Foot.
"In the somewhat fickle world of sports administration it is a privilege to be able to vacate this office of my own choice and at a time that I believe to be appropriate", said Foot.
"I wish Northerns Cricket Union every success and remain the most loyal Titans fan in the world!", Foot added.
The Northerns Cricket Union Executive Committee have unanimously resolved to nominate Foot for election as Vice-President of the United Cricket Board of South Africa at its forthcoming Annual General Meeting to be held in August 2003.
