Not out of the race yet - Gambhir

With eight points and only five matches to go, Kolkata Knight Riders may have the lowest chances of making it to the play-offs out of the seven teams still in the race, but their captain Gautam Gambhir is still hoping to sneak through. "We are very much in the race. I haven't heard anyone say that we're out," he said. "A lot of people are saying that we need to win five out of five. But if you see in the last three years teams have qualified in the top four with eight wins."

Gambhir said that the team is aiming to win as many matches as possible. Knight Riders first task will be to beat a strong Mumbai Indians, who are yet to concede a match at Wankhede. "Whether it's the start or the end of a tournament, we always go out there to win. The desperation is always there. Till now, we have approached every game with the same hunger and desperation and it's not that only because we are in a position like this that we are desperate to win."

MCA seek police help to keep Shahrukh out

Shahrukh Khan, the Kolkata Knight Riders owner, attends most of the matches his team plays, but the Mumbai Cricket Association is making sure he is not able to transgress on the five-year ban from entering the Wankhede Stadium imposed on him last year when Knight Riders take on Mumbai Indians. The MCA has sought police help to make sure that Shahrukh is not able to enter the premises. "We wrote a letter to Marine Lines police station today (May 6) asking them not to allow Shahrukh Khan inside the stadium tomorrow," Ravi Savant, the MCA president, said. "This was after the police had asked us to send a letter to that effect."
