PCB has fined Mohammad Hussain a sum of Rs. 25,000 and banned him for 2 Domestic First Class Matches. This was done by the Disciplinary Committee of the PCB because the player proceeded to Bangladesh to participate in Cricket Tournaments without obtaining prior permission form PCB.
PCB has asked a number of players to confirm their availability in writing by 28 Feb 1998, for the Sahara Cup 1998 being played from Sept 10 to Sept 25, 1998. This is due to last years difficulty in obtaining replies from many cricketers who were on overseas cricket committments. The list includes: Wasim Akram, Saqlain Mushtaq, Saeed Anwar, Ijaz Ahmed, Azhar Mehmood, Mohammad Akram, Shahid Afridi, Manzoor Akhtar, Hassan Raza, Fazle Akbar, Saleem Elahi, Mohammad Wasim, Shoaib Akhtar, Shabbir Ahmad, Ali Naqvi, Waqar Younis, Mushtaq Ahmed, Moin Khan, Rashid Latif, Aaqib Javed, Mohammad Hussain, Aamir Sohail, Yousuf Youhana, Abdul Razzak, Mohammad Zahid, Arshad Khan, Shahid Nazir, Akhtar Sarfraz, Inzamam-ul-Haq, Ali Rizvi. After the Sahara Cup the Pakistan Team will fly straight from Toronto to Pakistan to Play against Australia.
