PAKISTAN v INDIA 1989-90
At Gujranwala, December 18
At Gujranwala, December 18. Toss: India. Pakistan won by 7 runs. With poor light precluding a start till past lunch, the match was reduced to twenty overs a side, but India bowled only sixteen in the allotted 85 minutes. Saeed Anwar, the young left-hander recalled to the Pakistan side, was the only one of their batsmen to shine, lifting the ball cleanly to hit four fours and two sixes. Although the target was a moderate one, in the swinging and seaming conditions Pakistan's four-man pace attack struck at regular intervals and pushed India behind the asking-rate. Fine catching in the outfield accounted for some of the Indian batsmen as they attempted over-ambitious strokes under pressure.
Man of the Match: Saeed Anwar.
