Pakistan still had a chance of reaching the final, but crashed in ignominy. Terbrugge, in only his second international, after a six-month gap, bowled impressively to claim four for 20 as he and his captain, Pollock, ran through Pakistan's top order with the new ball. They were 19 for six before Azhar Mahmood organised some resistance. Shoaib Malik and Mushtaq Ahmed added 55 at the end to lift the total to 153, but South Africa cruised past that in the 38th over and left Pakistan without a win.
Man of the Match: D. J. Terbrugge.
