In Pakistan's 49 years of Test Cricket history Pakistan has won 79 test matches out of 278 played to date. 43 of these victories have been at home while 35 have been away on opponent's grounds and one at the neutral ground of Dhaka during the inaugural Asian-Test-Championship in 1998-99. 19 of Pakistan's victories have been achieved against New Zealand, 13 against Sri Lanka, 11 against Australia, 10 each against the West Indies and England, 9 against India, 6 against Zimbabwe, and only one against South Africa. In terms of margin of victory 23 have been recorded by an innings, One over 300 runs, four over 200 runs, eight, six, seven and three by 10, 9, 8 and 7 wickets respectively. The remaining are by different margin of runs and wickets. The National Stadium, Karachi has the unique distinction for bringing Pakistan the largest victory by an innings and 188 runs against Australia in 1988-89 and also to snatch the narrowest victory for them, incidentally against the same rivals, by one-wicket in 1994-95 series.
