PCB's request lying unnoticed

Karachi: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had request President Mohammad Rafiq Tarar to order judicial investigations into World Cup allegations four months ago.
The PCB made the request in September last year and announced on the eve of Pakistan's ICC knock-out tournament semi-final against New Zealand in Nairobi last October. President Tarar, by virtue of being the Patron of the PCB, is empowered to accept or reject the board's request.
In 1999, investigations into allegations that Pakistan deliberately lost to India and Bangladesh were carried out by the establishment of Mujeeb-ur-Rehman. Sleuths of National Accountability Bureau were also assigned the task to unearth the facts.
However, the team was exonerated of all charges and the three suspected players - Wasim Akram, Salim Malik and Ijaz Ahmad - were recalled on national duty.
