The Professional Cricketers' Association is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Walker as Chairman of their marketing company, PCA Management Ltd.
Peter is a former Chairman of the Professional Cricketers' Association.
He was Director of Cricket Development with the Cricket Board of Wales (1996-99) and holds an MCC Coaching Certificate.
Peter played professional cricket with Glamorgan County Cricket Club from 1954 to 1972 and was a member of the team that won the County Championship in 1969 in the process becoming the first team since Lancashire in 1934 to go through a season undefeated.
In 1961 he achieved the best `treble' in the history of first class professional cricket; 1500 runs, 103 wickets and 73 catches and has a career record of 17,000 first class runs, 770 wickets and 740 catches.
Peter represented Transvaal and Western Province in South Africa and won 3 test caps for England V South Africa in 1960.
In addition to being a journalist, reporter, and producer he was the main presenter and the `voice' of BBC 2's Sunday League Cricket for 18 years.
In 1985 he founded and became Managing Director of Merlin Television Ltd, which became the largest and most successful independent video production company in Wales servicing the broadcast sector (BBC, HTV & S4C) and corporate clients throughout the UK and abroad.
The company won production awards both nationally and internationally and in 1989 Merlin was awarded the contract to produce and televise the Indian tour of the West Indies relaying for the first time ever pictures back to India via two satellites. The estimated nightly viewing audience was 200 million! Peter produced and presented this series.
He sold the company in 1995 but retains his association on a consultancy basis to date.
