England's unexpected Ashes hero Gary Pratt has signed a one-year extension to his Durham contract.
Pratt, who provoked Ricky Ponting's ire when he ran him out in the fourth Test at Trent Bridge while on the field as a substitute, was a regular in Durham's one-day team this season but failed to force his way into the Championship side. Pratt told BBC Sport: "My feet are on the ground and I'm just concentrating on getting in the Durham side."
Durham have also confirmed that Australian bowler Mick Lewis will return as their second overseas player next season. Although Lewis, 31, played only five Championship matches this year, he snaffled an impressive 26 wickets. Head coach Martyn Moxon said: "We are delighted to welcome him back to the club and we're looking forward to having him available to us for the full season."
Steve Harmison's brother, Ben, has signed a professional contract with the county after a strong season in the 2nd XIs.
