Derek Pringle, the Essex and England all-rounder, has announced his retirement from first-class cricket to pursue a career in journalism. Pringle, 35, won 30 Test caps over a 10-year period and made his final appearance against Pakistan at the Oval last year. He took 70 Test wickets at a cost of 35.97 and scored 695 runs at an average of 15.10, with a highest score of 63, against India at Lord's in 1986. (Thanks : Sunday Daily Telegraph)
