South Africa's only chance to get in some practice before the one-day series against Sri Lanka was ruined when their tour match against the Board President's XI at Moratuwa was abandoned due to rain without a ball being bowled. The washout also means that Alan Dawson and Jean-Paul Duminy, who were flown in for the one-dayers, will not get a chance to experience Sri Lankan conditions before the start of the series. The first match of the five-game series will be held at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on August 20.
