Glamorgan beat Gloucestershire by 10 wickets (D/L)
Scorecard
Glamorgan may be the Championship's whipping boys, but they stayed within touching distance of leaders Surrey with a 10-wicket demolition of Gloucestershire at Sophia Gardens. Gloucestershire's innings never established any momentum as wickets fell regularly, Alex Wharf being the pick of the bowlers with 4 for 18 from six overs. Set a target of 133 in 26 overs, Robert Croft (60*) and Ian Thomas (71*) saw Glamorgan to victory with almost five overs in hand.

Leicestershire beat Yorkshire by 66 runs
Scorecard
Virender Sehwag (54) and Darren Stevens (63) both hit half-centuries as Leicestershire secured their first National League win of the season at Grace Road. Yorkshire's Ryan Sidebottom grabbed 5 for 42, taking his last three wickets in his final two overs, but Leicestershire still posted a formidable 247 for 8. Phil DeFreitas removed Matthew Wood with the second ball of Yorkshire's reply, and then Charles Dagnall (4 for 41) took four wickets in 15 balls, including Anthony McGrath for 1, to reduce them to 28 for 5. Yorkshire eventually reached 181 but were never in the hunt.

Surrey beat Kent by 6 runs
Scorecard
An unbeaten 107 from Mark Ramprakash, made off 91 balls, helped Surrey to maintain their 100% record - and their place at the top of the division - but Kent came close to pulling off what would have been a remarkable chase at a gloomy Oval. Surrey amassed 322 for 7, Ramprakash being supported by a cracking 41-ball 70 from Azhar Mahmood which included four sixes and six fours. Kent appeared dead and buried at 71 for 3 but a fifth-wicket stand of 162 between Ed Smith (99) and Matthew Walker (80) caused Surrey a few flutters.

Essex beat Warwickshire by 8 wkts

Essex maintained their 100% National League record with a convincing victory over winless Warwickshire at a soggy Edgbaston in a match restricted to 20 overs-a-side. The reduction made the game effectively a dress rehearsal for next month's Twenty20 Cup, and Warwickshire looked less than prepared as they slumped to 75 for 6, although Dougie Brown (37) helped them to a 143. Will Jefferson (50) and Andy Flower (49*) put on 84 in 11 overs to set Essex on course, and Ronnie Irani (26*) helped secure the points with five balls to spare.

National Cricket League Division Two

Lancashire beat Hampshire by 70 runs (D/L)
Scorecard
Sterling work by the Old Trafford groundstaff helped Lancashire ease past Hampshire despite several heavy downpours at Old Trafford. Lancashire started shakily, losing two early wickets before Stuart Law (98) got after the bowling, striking seven fours and three sixes. Carl Hooper chipped in with a 36-ball 51 at the end. Hampshire briefly looked to be in the hunt, but Mark Chilton (3 for 20) took two wickets in two balls as Hampshire slumped from 77 for 2 to 79 for 6. Dimitri Mascarenhas struck an entertaining 37 but by then the game was over.

Northamptonshire v Derbyshire - No Result
Scorecard
Northamptonshire dropped their first points of the season as the game against Derbyshire at Wantage Road was washed out shortly after tea. But it might be two points gained rather than two lost as they were restricted to 131 for 9 by some tight bowling from Derbyshire, Dominic Cork leading the way with 3 for 22. It could have been even worse, but Tony Penberthy (28) and Mike Cawdron (37*) added 43 in nine overs for the eighth wicket to rescue Northants from 61 for 7. Only three overs of Derbyshire's innings were possible before a downpour left the ground flooded. Northants remain six points clear at the top of Division Two.

Somerset beat Nottinghamshire by 49 runs (D/L)
Scorecard
Somerset lifted themselves off the bottom of the table with their first win of the season against Nottinghamshire at a damp Taunton. Jamie Cox's 81-ball 110 was the anchor for Somerset's 293 for 4, and with 21-year-old Carl Gazzard (58) he added 131 for the first wicket. Chasing a revised target of 315 in 35 overs, Jason Gallian (69) amd Usman Afzaal took Nottinghamshire to 201 for 2 with a second-wicket stand of 161 in 17 overs. But Gallian's dismissal triggered a collapse, and when Afzal fell for 105 (his hundred came off 68 balls) there was no way back.
