4.40pm Saurashtra collapse

From 174 for 4, Saurashtra have tumbled to 209 all out. Iresh Saxena takes five wickets for 17 in his 12 overs.

4.25pm Ian Dev Singh carries his bat

For only the second time in Ranji history, a J&K batsman has carried his bat. Ian Dev Singh is 117* out of 215. That isn't the only remarkable performance though, as left-arm quick CP Shahid took 8 for 51, the third-best bowling effort by a Kerala bowler.

4.15pm Raina fails again

Not exactly the way Raina will want to make his case for a Test middle-order berth. He's been bowled for 8 by Sandeep Singh, the season's leading wicket-taker, who has all three of the wickets to fall today.

No triple or even a single century for the season's highest run-getter. Jadeja is

Our reader Arjun asks: "Plenty of support pours in for the trinity of Parthiv Patel, Dinesh Karthik and WP Saha, but none for Uday Kaul? He's got a superior FC record to all of them with the bat and has been scoring runs in Punjab's wins this season, and he's also a better wicketkeeper than most of the run-scoring prospects now. And all his runs came in the top tier."

3.10pm No spectators allowed at the Chinnaswamy

Kanishkaa: "Bizarrely, no spectators are allowed into this game because the KSCA is taking all security precautions possible because of the Pakistan T20 game on the 25th. Even the media need passes to get in, which isn’t traditionally the case in a domestic match. It wasn't the case for the last game in Bangalore. Looks like only the members of the KSCA club can watch from the Members Stand, but from what I heard from a friend watching from there, there are hardly any takers."

Left-arm spinner Bhatt takes five as Odisha's middle-order folded in Vadodara. Odisha are 156 for 8, with Govind Podder dismissed for 82.

2.45pm Can anyone stop Ravindra Jadeja?
The man with three triples is now unbeaten on 54, and well past 700 runs for the Ranji season. Saurashtra are 150/4 against Bengal.

At Chinnaswamy:

At tea Karnataka are 167 for 8. No specialist batsmen left, so unless the tail bat out of their skins, Delhi could be batting quickly. We’ve hardly seen any spin all day. Says so much about the pitch. Awana chasing a five-for. He has 4 for 67. Vinay 18*, Appanna 0*

2.40pm Another one down for Karnataka
Kanishkaa says: "Tea is just around the corner and Karnataka have managed to lose one more. Mithun plays all over a full delivery from Awana, strikes the base of the pad. Didn’t take the umpire long to give that out. Abhimanyu Mithun lbw b Awana 14 (16b) FOW 163 for 8 in 54.6."

2.35pm Punjab batsmen having it easy

Here's Amol with the latest from Wankhede: Mandeep Singh slog-sweeps Ankeet Chavan through mid-wicket for his eighth four and raises his bat after a well-made fifty. Punjab 202 for 2. Ravi Inder batting on 65.

Sanjay Bangar has broken the stand between Rameez Khan and Devendra Bundela with a run-out. MP now 113 for 3 against Railways. Here's Bangar talking about his finest hour, and about being a senior statesman in the Railways side.

2.20pm Binny dismissed

Kanishkaa has the bad news for Karnataka fans:

Stuart Binny c Bisht b Awana 61 (113b), eight fours FOW 147 for 7 in 50.4 ov. Partnership 42 runs.

Karnataka have lost their mainstay Binny. Edged to the keeper Bisht, but the batsman waited because the non-striker Vinay appeared to gesture to the umpire that Awana may have overstepped. The umpires have a look and Binny has to go. Though this game isn't televised, there are cameras to check for foot faults.

2.10pm Kaif continues solid run

Mohammad Kaif has been in top form this season: 91, 25, 122, 36, 83 and now 63*. He's missed out on two Ranji centuries already this season, and will be hoping to convert this time. UP are at a strong 146 for 1, against Vidarbha.

2.00pm Fifty for Binny

Kanishkaa:

“Something to keep the cheer for Karnataka as Stuart Binny speeds to his fifty. Two whipped boundaries to deep midwicket off Ashish Nehra. Punches a single wide of point to bring up the half-century. Vinay Kumar needs to fight it out with him. 50 off 102 balls with six fours.”

1.55pm Bist falls for 13

Robin Bist began the season with a century in the Duleep Trophy, building on a prolific season in 2011-12, but hasn't touched those heights again since. He seemed to be back in form with an 85 and unbeaten 37* against Madhya Pradesh, but he has fallen cheaply today, caught behind off Rakeh Dhruve.

Another young Rajasthan batsman who is struggling this season is Ashok Menaria, still to hit a half-century this Ranji season. He has perished to the part-time bowling of Venugopal Rao for 18. Rajasthan are 95/4.

1.50pm Changes galore

People have been calling for large-scale changes to the Test side as it slumps to another defeat, but few could have asked for anything as dramatic as our reader Yor Banra: "The Indian team for next Test should be : Jiwanjot Singh. Akshath Reddy, Hiken Shah, Paras Dogra, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashpal Singh, Parthiv Patel, Shahbaz Nadeem, Siddharth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma, Arlem Konwar."

1.40pm Tripura bowled out for 106

Jharkhand, table-toppers early in the tournament, are now in fourth place, but have made a strong start today. Fast bowler Ajay Yadav playing only his second first-class match has taken six wickets for 38.

Binny has been timing it well after lunch. Two crisp boundaries one over off Awana. And Gautham has been dropped on 10. Slashed at one outside off and Manhas flung himself to his left and couldn't hang on. Would have been a sharp take.

And Amol from Wankhede: "Ravi Inder Singh charges down the wicket to drive Chavan through covers and then rocks on the back foot to pull one through the square-leg boundary. Punjab 131 for 2."

Odisha have lost two soon after lunch. Bardoa's left-arm spinner Bhargav Bhatt, who hit a six towards the close of their nervy one-wicket victory over Haryana, has taken two in two overs. Odisha 90 for 4.

12.50pm Jiwanjot falls

Amol brings the bad news:

"Mumbai finally see the back of Jiwanjot. The right-hander pushes at one from Dhawal Kulkarni outside off and this time around, Hiken Shah makes no mistake at second slip. Punjab 109 for 2. Jiwanjot scored 42"

12.45pm Goa's Swapnil Asnodkar playing his 50th first-class match today. He hasn't had the best of seasons, though, so far. One hundred against J&K, but a string of low scores otherwise.

The only Indian with three triple-centuries is now in the middle. Ravindra Jadeja is unbeaten on 7 as Saurashtra move to 72 for 2. Ashok Dinda, another player released from the Indian Test squad, has just dismissed Shitanshu Kotak for 40.

Lunch in Bangalore: Kanishakaa's verdict “If you opt to bat first and lose five wickets in the opening session, it can’t be a good morning. Delhi’s seamers have made best use of a grassy pitch. They have kept the ball up and forced the batsmen to play. Karnataka’s top order has misfired again. All down to Stuart Binny and Gautam now.”

11.30am Tripura continue to stumble

Tripura have now slid to 72 for 7 against Jharkhand. Their opener Subhrajit Roy is unbeaten on 31 after two-and-a-half hours, but he hasn't had much support from the others. Offspinner Sunny Gupta has taken a wicket in each of his first two overs, taking him to 24 wickets for the season.

11.20am Haryana batting wobbles again

As our reader Shyam correctly points out: "Seems like Haryana's ritualistic batting collapse is on."

Haryana, who bounced back from three straight defeats in a row to beat Delhi in their previous match, are now 63/4. Their opener Rahul Dewan, who got married earlier this week, is still battling on 28*.

Bishan Bedi, the great left-arm spinner, is at the Ranji ground in Malappuram, where Kerala are taking on J&K.He has plenty of praise for the new stadium.

Official word on Jaffer's exclusion: "There's been a death in his family, so he has pulled out of the game." So the exclusion theory is put to rest for now. Also, Suryakumar Yadav's injury is not serious, so he along with Shardul Thakur and Iqbal Abdullah have been released for Mumbai's Col CK Nayudu Trophy (Under-25) semifinal against Baroda in Vadodara

Jiwanjot coasts on, but Karan Goel is gone. Here's Amol:

Left-hander Karan Goel drives Balwinder Singh Sandhu, the namesake of the 1983 World Cup hero, who is playing his first game of the season for, for a sweetly timed boundary. soon after, though, the change of end works for Agarkar. 9.50am Tripura in trouble
Tripura came into this match after pulling off a rare outright victory, over Himachal in Nadaun, but are struggling against Jharkhand at Agartala. Their batting have caved in on a difficult track, with Ajay Yadav and Shankar Rao taking five wickets in their opening spell. Jharkhand's major wicket-takers have been the spinners, Shahbaz Nadeem and Sunny Gupta, but it is the quicks who are causing the damage today.

Surprise at Wankhede. Wasim Jaffer is not in the eleven. Neither is Suryakumar Yadav. While there is no clarity over Jaffer's unavailability so far, Yadav seems to have hurt himself during the warm-ups. Mumbai, meanwhile, have won the toss and elected to field.

9.00am Punjab are having an extraordinary season, with four outright wins already and are miles ahead of everyone else in Group A. They face their toughest test in this game, facing up against the most successful team in Ranji history, Mumbai. Harbhajan Singh and Ajinkya Rahane have been released from India's Test squad to play this game. Amol Karhadkar has braved Mumbai's peak hour traffic to be at the ground in time to provide us updates. Here's his preview.

In Group B, a team which has done well in the past few years, Karnataka, is at the bottom of the table after a surprise defeat to Odisha. They are up against Delhi at the Chinnaswamy Stadium today. Kanishkaa Balachandran is tracking that match. He's surprised by the state of the pitch in Bangalore:

"Bright and sunny morning in Bangalore. Karnataka have won the toss and have elected to bat. The pitch is GREEN. Hardly a patch of white. It was trimmed yesterday so you can imagine how it could have looked. Looks can be deceiving. Let's see how it actually plays. The team that won the toss actually chose to bat"
