4.50 pm Tamil Nadu inch onwards

Baba Aparajith was dismissed for 62, two deliveries after a drinks break in which there was a long chat with the captain Dinesh Karthik. R Prasanna still there on 60. TN 165 for 5 in 80 overs v Baroda's 208

4.35 pm Stumps at Eden, and in Agartala, Bhubaneshwar and Dhanbad

Hyderabad 172 for 7 in the second innings, leading by 171. Shami Ahmed 4 for 68. Definite result coming in this game, possibly tomorrow.

Rajasthan 56 for 3 (Vineet Saxena 20*, Anureet Singh 2-18) v Railways 405

Andhra 132 for 4 v Jharkhand 257. Amol Muzumdar (41*) and AG Pradeep (38*) helping Andhra recover from 54 for 4

4.30 pm Bad light at the Roshanara

Turned bad on day one as well. Maharashtra 196 and 3 for 0 v Delhi 193. Just 54 overs possible today. Could be an outright result in this game still, unless there is more overnight rain and more morning dampness in the outfield.

4.25 pm Mumbai strike after declaration

A wicket each to Ajit Agarkar and Dhawal Kulkarni. Saurashtra 27 for 2. Mumbai 606 for 5 dec

4.10 pm MP make Punjab follow-on

A lead of 175 in hand, Madhya Pradesh have achieved what no team has come even close to doing this season. They have asked Punjab to bat again. Anand Rajan's 4 for 29 has dismissed the visitors for 148 in their first innings. Three for Ishwar Pandey. MP made 323.

4.05 pm Delhi out for 193, trail by three

Five wickets for Maharashtra's Samad Fallah. Writes Sharda: "Pawan Suyal has just hit a six. The whole cricket watching public has hooted in joy. He cleared long on and the sight screen and the tree line. And another four, off Fallah, Maharashtra's best bowler, to long on. The delhi team is standing on the boundary and shouting encouragement, half in appreciation and half in laughter because he is not the greatest of tail-end batsmen. And Suyal goes for another hit and mishits the cow corner stroke. It ended up being scooped up to the fielder at mid wicket. Five to Fallah."

4 pm Update from the Roshanara Club

... where Delhi have lost their ninth wicket. Sharda Ugra says: "Vaibhav Rawal tries to clear square leg with a stylish flick but the ball travels stylishly to the man on the boundary. Delhi 182 for 9. Rawal made 65, 157 balls, eight fours. My humble opinion is that Delhi can still win this match BUT that is only theory, they will have to chase and win with the bat." Maharashtra made 196 on day one

3.45 pm Mumbai declare on 606

Mumbai 606 for 5 (162 overs). Tare 222, Rohit 166, Jaffer 79, Nayar 69*. Nayar is in some form this season - 107*, 0, 105*, 64, 62, 73*, 51, 26* before this game.

3.40 pm Tamil Nadu fightback on

India U19 allrounder Baba Aparajith has moved to 59 off 172, R Prasanna to 44 off 116, and TN to 140 for 4 from 52 for 4. Baroda 208

3.35 pm Delhi lose one more as light drops

Sharda Ugra writes in: "Sumit Narwal has just stood and delivered a stand & deliver boundary off Nikti Dhumal through covers. And bowled next ball, played on. Delhi 167 for 7. Rawal 57*. The light has suddenly dropped. It has become almost 5pmish light. The umpires are still standing at their various ends but talking to each other, nazaron se. Suddenly music has broken out, on the roof of the Roshanara clubhouse, a ghazal type song. The umpire has called for the light meter, but he has only put it in his pocket."

3.25 pm MP scythe through Punjab

For once this season, Punjab are really struggling. They are 133 for 8 against MP's 323 in Gwalior. Mandeep Singh, dismissed by Anand Rajan, the innings top-scorer with 33. Ishwar Pandey and Rajan both taking three wickets.

3.20 pm Karnataka declare on 619

CM Gautam was finally dismissed for 257, easily his highest first-class score. Karnataka have scored at a fair clip, their 619 for 8 coming in 155 overs, at a run-rate of 3.99. Vidarbha 7 for 0

3.10 pm Monkey business at Moti Bagh

Baroda 110 for 4 couple of overs after tea. I am told that monkeys have been running around outside the boundary. They are well-behaved and haven't invaded the pitch. During the tea break, the TN players had a game of football with one guy standing in the middle trying to intercept the ball from the two sides (also known as monkey game), with real monkeys watching from boundary. So much monkeying all around. Something about Baroda and monkeys. In their game in Kanpur against Uttar Pradesh, the animals invaded the field in vast numbers, with several of them surrounding a fielder in the deep. Not clear if Suresh Raina had called for substitute fielders

3.05 pm Maharashtra coach Reeve unwell

Sharda Ugra has more: "The manager of the Delhi team, Mohammad Poonawalla, says Dermott Reeve is in Pune because he is unwell. He has most certainly NOT gone to the Taj Mahal. A stomach problem. He had to be admitted to hospital for a while."

3 pm Joginder Sharma, Rahul Dewan fight for Haryana

Of course, you remember Joginder Sharma. Who can forget him? The allrounder had an accident last year and sustained a head injury which required surgery. In his comeback game, has smacked 62 off 75 at No. 8. Opener Rahul Dewan resolute on 72 off 238. Haryana, recovering from 135 for 6 to 219 for 6, are set to go past UP's 227.

2.50 pm Yuvraj goes for 39 in Gwalior

Punjab are 120 for 5 after hosts MP made 323. Mandeep Singh 33*. Ishwar Pandey 2-47. Tall fellow, this Pandey. Gets sharp bounce.

2.45 pm Hyderabad five down

It will be a big achievement if this game goes into day four, or even late into day three. Hyderabad 113 for 5 v Bengal, overall lead 112. Shami Ahmed 3 for 53.

2.40 Update from Sharda Ugra at the Roshanara

"Vaibhav Rawal gets to 50, clipped Sanklecha off his legs. Samad Fallah (4-41) is back at the other end bowling to Sumit Narwal. Delhi 148 for 6 v Maharashtra 196."

2.30 pm More updates, Group C now

Andhra 56 for 4 v Jharkhand 257 in Dhanbad, of Gangs of Wasseypur and being-close-to-my-mother's-hometown fame

Tripura 8 for 2 (Manu Krishnan 3-2-1-2, Sreesanth 6-5-2-0) v Kerala 400

J&K 97 for 2 and 85 v Services 221

Goa 52 for 0 v Himachal 338

2.10 pm Score updates

Railways dismissed for 405 v Rajasthan

Mumbai 528 for 3 (Tare 221*) v Saurashtra

Karnataka 574 for 6 (Gautam 237*, Rahul 157, Binny 85, Pandey 53) v Vidarbha

Tamil Nadu 97 for 4 v Baroda 208. I am informed that the Baroda second-string bowlers are keeping it tight, and that R Prasanna hit two attractive cover drives in the previous over

1.55 pm Spin at the Roshanara

For the first time in the game between Delhi and Maharashtra. Delhi had used five seamers, Maharashtra's Samad Fallah has been a handful as well. Says Sharda: "A historic happening at Roshanara, a spinner, Chirag Khurana, is coming onto bowl. He bowls off spin and opens to the left-hander from round the wicket. Puneet Bisht hits a boundary through the slip cordon which can best be described as a chop. The opposite of an upper cut is a downward chop. And to everyone's astonishment, first six of the match from Bisht off Khurana, over midwicket, and next ball a four down the ground towards long off, which is where we are." Delhi 137 for 5

1.50 pm Akshath Reddy falls at Eden

This is at least the fifth time this season the young Hyderabad captain has not converted a start into a big score. He's out for 49, Hyderabad 81 for 3, lead of 80 against Bengal.

1.45 pm Sunday arrangements in Delhi

Writes Sharda Ugra from the Roshanara Club ground: "Because this is Sunday the members and their children are in greater profusion. Now the club has moved its Sunday lunch seating from the point and third man boundaries of the ground to a roof top on the old club house. So now there are umbrellas out on the club house." Delhi 115 for 5 v Maharashtra 196

1.35 pm Mumbai close in on 500

The wicketkeeper-opener Aditya Tare has made his maiden first-class century into a double. He is batting on 202 off 388 deliveries, 29 fours, one six. Rohit Sharma has gone to left-arm spinner Nayan Doshi for 166 off 254, 16 fours, four sixes. Mumbai 480 for 3 v Saurashtra

1.25 pm Yuvraj Singh batting in Gwalior

Punjab are 53 for 3 in pursuit of MP's 323. Yuvraj has faced 26 deliveries for his 17 and hit three fours. Mandeep Singh, double centurion in Punjab's previous game, yet to get off the mark.

1.20 pm Lakhnavi jolts for Haryana

In Lucknow, the Uttar Pradesh quick bowlers Ankit Rajpoot (4 for 30) and Imtiaz Ahmed (2 for 46) are running through the Haryana middle order. Opener Rahul Dewan is on 55, but his side are 137 for 6 now. They were 105 for 2 at a stage. UP made 227.

1.20 pm Delhi lose fifth

Sharda Ugra writes in: "Fallah [again!] gets Bhatia. Delhi 105 for 5. Bhatia defending against Fallah, the ball climbed and moved away slightly, getting the edge, which was caught by the keeper Motwani. The umpire took his time and Bhatia took longer to leave."

1.15 pm Sreesanth's first over in ages

The fast bowler has started with a maiden in Agartala where Tripura have just began their innings after Kerala made 400, riding on Rohan Prem's 170. This is the often-injured Sreesanth's first game in over a year.

1.05 pm Mithun Manhas gone at Roshanara

Sharda Ugra: "Delhi have lost their fourth wicket for 93. Mithun Manhas trying to play Maharashtra's Samad Fallah into the onside, playing across and gone leg before. Rajat Bhatia walked in, smashed a cover drive to Fallah and has survived two appeals in the over. The observant scorers next to me noticed that there had been quite a discussion between Fallah and the captain about whether he should bowl one more over. Well, he did. Delhi are about a 100 behind with six wickets left but this is not going to be a first-innings match." Fallah has taken three wickets so far, all bowled

1 pm Dinesh Karthik falls at Moti Bagh

He's been bowled by Murtuja Vahora for 23, and Tamil Nadu are reeling at 52 for 4 in reply to Baroda's 208

12.50 pm Coach, coach, where are you?

Sharda Ugra from the Roshanara, Delhi: "Dermot Reeve, the Maharashtra coach, and best friend of Suresh Raina and vice versa, is still not to be seen - rumour is that he has gone to see the Taj Mahal. Now even given the fact that there is a Taj Express Highway, it is time enough for him to be back after lunch on day two." He missed the Roshanara lunch, so generously funded by saddi DDCA? That will be the Delhi & District Cricket Association

12.45 pm Sample the lunch menu from the Roshanara

As seen/eaten by senior editor Sharda Ugra: "Mixed vegetable, shahi paneer, tamatarwaali daal, veg pulao, raita, chicken curry and fresh tandoori rotis. WITH a pudding dessert called Ladysmith - a sponge cake, with jam, fruit and cream." No wonder they were so keen to have lunch after an half-hour session

12.30 pm Scores, scores

Haryana 129 for 3 (Dewan 50*) v UP 227

TN 52 for 3 v Baroda 208

12 noon A slice of history

While our senior editor Sharda Ugra tucks into the lunch at the Roshanara Club, she sends us this picture of the historic old pavilion at the ground.

 Sharda Ugra / ESPNcricinfo Ltd

Sharda: "This is the pavilion that was presented to the Club by the Maharaj Kumar Vijaya Anand of Vizianagaram, and was opened on Nov 15, 1930 for a match between a Vizianagaram XI, which included Hobbs and Sutcliffe, and Rest of India. At the moment the BCCI's data analysts occupy the pavilion and there are cables and wires emanating from it and a tubelight switched on in the morning. That's how much sun there is."

11.55 pm Half an hour of play ... and it's lunch

At the Roshanara Club in the game between Delhi and Maharashtra, where an outfield damp from overnight rain has meant 15 overs have been lost. Play extended by an hour to finish at 5.15 pm (fat chance of light holding up till then). But it is saddi Dilli, and lunch must be had, when lunch must be had. Delhi clawing their way from 60 for 3 to 80 for 3 this morning in the seven-over 'session'.

11.45 am Karnataka pile it on in Mysore

CM Gautam is on 173, his highest first-class score. Manish Pandey has come in, bashed 53 off 44 and fallen. Stuart Binny is has taken over from Pandey, he is on 23 off 18. Karnataka have raced to 445 for 4, having added 139 in 29 overs this morning.

11.35 am MP out for 323

11.25 am Wickets continue to tumble at Eden

The Bengal quick bowler Shami Ahmed, who took four wickets in the Hyderabad first innings, has taken out K Sumanth and Hanuma Vihari in the second innings. One bowled, one lbw. Hyderabad 19 for 2, overall lead of 18

11.05 am Rohit gets third ton of the season

His limited-overs form takes centrestage over evertying else but this is the 15th first-class hundred for Rohit Sharma in 55 games. He got a double in the previous game against Bengal Punjab, and a century against Hyderabad earlier. Aditya Tare has gone past 150, Mumbai 369 for 2 v Saurashtra in Rajkot

10.55 am Tamil Nadu in trouble

Star batsman after star batsman falling to the Vohra-Vahora combine at Moti Bagh. Abhinav Mukund caught behind off left-armer Sankalp Vohra for 8. Three balls later, M Vijay caught behind off Murtuja Vahora for 3, and now S Badrinath has gone caught behind for a duck off Vohra. Tamil Nadu 18 for 3 v Baroda 208

10.50 am Score updates

Haryana 70 for 2 v UP 227

10.45 am Bengal 116, Hyderabad 115

The opener Arindam Das has fallen for 73, and Bengal have taken a one-run lead over Hyderabad at Eden Gardens. Five-fors for Ashish Reddy and Anwar Ahmed

10.35 am Rohit Sharma dropped on 87 ...

... in batting paradise Rajkot, of all places. Rohit is on his way to his third century of the season, against Saurashtra. Mumbai are 344 for 2, Tare on 136, Rohit on 96. Both batsmen have been put down now. Tare was let off on day one, Rohit today, by the keeper Jogiyani. Unadkat the unlucky bowler on both occasions.

10.25 Rahul falls for 157 in Mysore

KL Rahul, the former India U19 batsman, is gone after his maiden first-class hundred. The keeper CM Gautam is still there on 141. Karnataka 336 for 3 v Vidarbha.

Here is what Rahul had to say after day one -

"Once I scored that double hundred in the CK Nayudu Trophy earlier this season, I knew a call-up to the Ranji Trophy team was round the corner. I wanted to make sure that I was ready and wanted to perform at this level too. This knock, and the half-century in the previous match against a Delhi team which had Test players in the line-up, has given me a lot of confidence.

"Looking at the pitch, most teams would have opted to field first; even we would have bowled first. There’s a lot of fresh grass on the pitch and there was, and still is, lateral movement for the quicks. So it wasn’t a surprise that Vidarbha put us in."

10.20 am Play to start at 11.15 am at the Roshanara

Damp outfield still in the game between Delhi and Maharashtra. Play will start about an hour later, I am told they will play for half an hour ... and then take lunch!

10.15 am 22nd first-class ton for Devendra Bundela

The MP captain continues to build for his side, who are now 296 for 5 in Gwalior

10.05 am Baroda out for 208

The merrymaking is over for Vahora and Bhatt. Vahora goes caught behind off Sunil Sam for 47, Bhatt 36*. Highest first-class scores for both bowlers. Yo Mahesh 5 for 26, Sam 3 for 73

9.50 am Baroda's last pair hurting Tamil Nadu

Murtuja Vahora and Bhargav Bhatt have added 79 so far at the beautiful Moti Bagh in Vadodara. Bhatt has just swung a ball into the numerous trees surrounding the ground. Baroda 207 for 9

9.45 am Bengal reach 100 at Eden

It is a green top at Eden Gardens for this game, after all the drama over the pitch for the Test at the same venue last week. Bengal are seventh in their group, an outright win is needed, but at the moment, they are struggling to match Hyderabad's 115. Arindam Das, their opener, who carried his bat against Mumbai with an unbeaten 98 in a total of 201, is still there on 61, and Bengal are 103 for 9

9.20 am Rain, rain in Delhi

Delhi lugged their supersopper all the way from the Kotla to the Roshanara when they had to change venues for their game against Maharashtra and it is being put to use now. There was overnight rain in the capital, the outfield is damp, and the groundstaff are at work. Rain in wintry December. Our senior editor Sharda Ugra is on the lookout for a cup of tea in Delhi at the moment. There will be an inspection, of the Roshanara, at 10 am. Delhi 60 for 3 v Maharashtra 196
