Recall for Pramodya Wickramasinghe

Pramodya Wickramasinghe has been included in the Sri Lankan squad after proving his fitness in the BCCSL XI practice game last Tuesday. He was wicketless in the game but he was his usual miserly self and his accuracy is a much-cherished commodity within this Sri Lankan team.

Sajeewa De Silva, the third left arm seam bowler in the 15-man squad, has been dropped to make room for the experienced fast bowler.

Wickramasinghe went to Australia immediately after the tour to Pakistan last March to undergo surgery on his shoulder, which had been causing him problems for a considerable period of time. His initial recovery plan had targeted this triangular series for his comeback.

He may have to wait for Tuesday's game against South Africa at the Sinhalese Sports Club for his comeback. Sri Lanka will probably play three spinners at Premadasa Stadium, a pitch where the ball stays low and turns appreciably.
