ADELAIDE - South Australia has recalled paceman Mark Harrity to its squad for this week's Pura Cup cricket match against Victoria at the MCG. It will be Harrity's first game for South Australia this season when he replaces Jason Gillespie, who joins the Australian team in Brisbane for the first Test against the West Indies.
Spinner Peter McIntyre also returns to the squad to replace Brad Young, who will have a knee reconstruction tomorrow after a training mishap ended his season.
Left-handed batsman Ben Higgins has been promoted to the Redbacks' 13-man squad for the match starting on Thursday after scoring 177 for the SA Second XI against Tasmania recently.
He is on standby for Jeff Vaughan, who remains under an injury cloud with suspected tendon and ligament damage to his right hand, suffered in a one-day match against Victoria earlier this month.
Despite the injury woes, South Australia will go into this week's match buoyed by yesterday's one-day victory over a star-studded New South Wales. SA: Darren Lehmann (capt), Greg Blewett (vice-capt), David Fitzgerald, Shane Deitz, Jeff Vaughan, Chris Davies, Ben Johnson, Graham Manou, Brett Swain, Paul Wilson, Mark Harrity, Peter McIntyre, Ben Higgins.
