Romaine and Smith put Bermuda on top
A 158-run partnership between Clay Smith, the Bermuda captain, and Irving Romaine, with each racking up centuries, quashed all hopes of a Cayman Island fightback and put Bermuda on course to a comfortable win

The Cayman Island bowlers, led by Troy Taylor, the medium-pacer, reduced Bermuda to 56 for 3 early in the day and harboured hopes of a gallant fightback. But Smith led the counterattack with a blistering 138, including 16 fours and a six, and was well supported by Romaine, who helped himself to a steady 111. There was no respite for the Cayman Island bowlers even after their partnership as Dean Minors clattered five fours and five sixes on his way to a 71-ball 74 and enabled Bermuda to declare at a healthy 387 for 7.
Bermuda's declaration gave them a chance to bowl for 45 minutes before stumps and they captured four Caymanian wickets for 50 runs and established their dominance. At close, Cayman still trailled by 140 runs with only six wickets in hand.
If Bermuda manage to wrap up the game on the final day, they will be the team to qualify for the semi-finals - scheduled to be held in Namibia in October - from the Americas Region.
