The South African public have become used to seeing the likes of Jonty Rhodes, Allan Donald, Hansie Cronje and Paul Adams performing with distinction both at home and overseas. Now another cricketing squad is out to woo South Africa's affections.

The South African Women's team leaves on Saturday the 2nd for a tour of Ireland and England, a warm up for the World Cup in November. Included in the itinerary are 5 limited over matches against England, one of which will be played at Lord's.

The squad has assembled in Johannesburg where they are putting the finishing touches to thei pre-tour training.

Interviewed at the Wanderers' indoor nets, captain Kim Price expressed confidence in her team: "We expect to do well in Ireland. As for England, it's true that they have a lot of experience, but guts and determination will play a part too."
