The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) has confirmed the integration of women's cricket into its state association after being ratified at the SACA's annual general meeting.
After a two-year trial integration, the South Australian Women's Cricket Association (SAWCA) is now officially part of SACA.
The full integration was unanimously supported by SAWCA's membership at their August annual general meeting.
Mike Deare, chief executive SAC, said that the integration is an exciting move for women's cricket in the State. "There are enormous growth opportunities in women's cricket and this integration will enable South Australia's female cricketers to have access to the same resources and facilities as our men enjoy.
"We are proud to have the Australian women's team captain Karen Rolton leading our State women's team and we are confident that with the integration will come more success at the national level, as well as success for the Scorpions.
"We would also expect to see an overall increase in women's cricket participation across the State as the SACA and its Grade clubs continue their work to create more opportunities for female cricketers to play the game."
