Scorecard
Spurred on by consistently good bowling by Adam Sanford, Leeward Islands trounced Barbados by an innings and 14 runs at the Kensington Oval. Sanford claimed two more wickets on the final day to end with 13 for 138. Barbados, with only four wickets left standing on the final day, could add only 33 to their overnight score of 140.
Sanford's second-innings analysis of 7 for 40 on the placid pitch improved upon his best figures in first-class cricket: 6 for 43. He helped to push Barbados, led by Sherwin Campbell, to their third consecutive defeat. Campbell later appealed to Barbados fans to empathise with the inexperienced team and said they would get their act together soon. But the winning captain, Sylvester Clarke, paid tribute to Sanford for the manner in which he bowled on a batting wicket. The West Indies Cricket Board website quoted him as saying, "We are so pleased that we can come out here and put things together on such a good batting wicket and I thought Adam Sanford really, really put us in a tremendous position the way that he bowled."
