NFL history shows us that the team with the superior defence usually wins Superbows and that explains why bet365 have the Steelers as 20/37 favourites to come out on top against a Seahawks side appearing in the Superbowl for the first time.

It's possible that the Seahawks may just be happy to be there, but on paper, their side matches up well to the Steelers, even if Ben Roethlisberger has been marching the Steelers to the Superbowl in amazing fashion.

The quarter-back has a phenomenal record in just his second season and with the likes of veteran Jerome Bettis still bustling through opposition defences, while Willie Parker has been their main running back and Hines Ward is a threat when Roethlicberger opts to pass.

Stopping Hasselbeck
If the Steelers are to win they have to deny Matt Hasselbeck time at quarter-back, but more importantly they will have to stop the outstanding running skills of Shaun Alexander. The man has rushed for 1880 yards this season and scored 28 touchdowns in what is the season of his life.

Stopping both of them will be a tough task but the Steelers will fancy their chances after snuffing out the attacking power of the Bengals, the Colts and the Broncos to get to the Superbowl.

But despite their obvious strength, I fancy the offensive nature of the Seahawks to win out in the end. They are on cloud nine after reaching the Superbowl and will surely want to take every opportunity they get. Hasselbeck has not been intercepted in his last five games, and if that statistic is stretched to six come Monday mornng, then I'd be amazed if the Seahawks were not celebrating victory, at 33/20 (2.65).
